Military Spouse Advocacy Network Expands Leadership Development Program with USAA Support

The Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN), in collaboration with USAA, has announced the opening of applications for its 2025 cohort of the Military Spouse Leadership Development Program (MSLDP). This initiative is designed to empower 50 military spouses by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to become influential leaders within their communities. The program's expansion to include a spring session in 2024, in addition to its traditional fall offering, underscores the increasing demand for leadership development opportunities among military spouses.

Verenice Castillo, MSAN Founder and CEO, highlighted the significance of the program in fostering leadership among military spouses, a group often facing unique challenges due to the transient nature of military life. The MSLDP is accessible to spouses of currently serving U.S. military members across all branches, including Reserves and Guard, as well as post 9-11 Gold Star Spouses, Surviving Spouses, Caregivers, and spouses of Veterans or Retirees, making it a comprehensive support system for a wide range of military families.

The program offers a free, global, and virtual training curriculum focusing on Leadership, Service, Advocacy, and Mentorship. Participants will benefit from training provided by prestigious institutions such as Harvard University's National Preparedness Leadership Initiative and Psych Hub for Mental Health Ally Certification. The inclusion of top military leaders and professional communications training further enriches the program, ensuring participants are well-equipped to lead and advocate effectively.

Upon completion, participants will receive a Leadership Certificate from Harvard University and a certificate in mental health allyship from Psych HUB, among other accolades. These credentials not only recognize the participants' achievements but also enhance their ability to contribute positively to their communities and the broader military family network.

The MSLDP is part of MSAN's broader Leadership Institute for Military Spouses, reflecting the organization's commitment to supporting military families through education, empowerment, and community building. By investing in the leadership development of military spouses, MSAN is addressing a critical need within the military community, potentially leading to improved morale, military retention, and a stronger sense of community among military families nationwide.
